He said that apparently it is because the government insists on being the only source for the medication and they are currently not distributing it. L'Escale was a gated "village" for people with Tuberculosis to keep them quarantined from society. I did hear that the people there are actually recovering from TB as opposed to actively having it, but I am not sure if that is true or not (some looked quite sick to me). However, no matter what the case is, I could not know whether she had TB or not, because often an entire family will live there even if only one member has it. One thing that is certain is that Haitain families stick together. If one member is sick, the entire family goes to the hospital and they stay and eat there until the person is released.
